Business Systems & Data Engineer - Pellet Technology USA

Position could be located in York, NE or Colwich, Ks. Possibility of hybrid schedule.

POSITION PURPOSE:

Plan, direct, and coordinate activities concerned with PTUSA’s design, implementation, integration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of company data systems, business systems, and digital platforms, including AI solutions, ERP systems, customer portals, reporting tools, and related technologies. Support the advancement of strategic and tactical engineering solutions to maintain, correct, and improve system performance, data integrity, process efficiency, and the overall management and delivery of technology-driven projects. Serve as PTUSA’s technical owner and site-level system steward, ensuring PTUSA priorities are executed effectively while coordinating corporate IT to remain consistent with enterprise standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

  • Support continuous improvement of PTUSA data engineering standards, system architecture, and work processes. Identify practical opportunities for automation, system integration, AI enabled enhancements, and digital innovation to improve business performance, visibility, and quality.
  • Serve as the on-site owner of on-going engineering review, analysis, problem solving, and troubleshooting of company data systems, ERP platforms, customer portals, reporting tools, and other connected business technologies. Coordinate with corporate IT and vendors where ownership resides outside of PTUSA.
  • Develop and maintain technical system documentation for projects, including system requirements, process flows, data models, integration maps, specifications, database structures, workflows, and arrangement diagrams as needed.
  • Recommend technical system enhancements, or new technology additions to improve operational performance, reporting accuracy, system reliability, user accessibility, and decision-making capabilities, in partnership with PTUSA stakeholders and corporate IT.
  • Lead PTUSA-owned plans and implementation efforts relating to new system deployment, process automation, ERP enhancements, AI-enabled solutions, customer portal improvements, and data infrastructure expansion. Support corporate IT-led initiatives by providing PTUSA technical input, site readiness, coordination and post-deployment support.
  • Maintain data models, data dictionaries, integration lists, interface documentation, system specifications, testing records, project documentation, and implementation plans. Support system configuration, validation, and change management activities.
  • Review system outputs and data controls for alignment and compliance with company policies, security standards, quality expectations, and applicable regulatory requirements. Coordinate these efforts with corporate IT.
  • Interface with other functional teams and corporate IT to ensure that system designs, data structures, and digital solutions are compatible with business needs and existing technologies.
  • Interface and participate on cross-functional projects with corporate IT, functional teams, software vendors, system integrators, consultants, and other entities.
  • Support data integrity, system security, and accessibility of information across business platforms and digital tools.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies in artificial intelligence, automation, business systems, customer-facing platforms, and data infrastructure, and recommend adoption where beneficial to the business.
  • Responsible for production of safe animal feed and adherence to internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).
  • Perform other technology-related duties as assigned.

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in data engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred.

Required Knowledge & Experience:

  • 3-5 years of data engineering, systems engineering, business systems, automation, or related experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate and resolve system performance issues, data integrity issues, and technology-based business process problems.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Experience with ERP systems, database management, reporting platforms, and system integration tools is required.
  • Experience with artificial intelligence applications, automation systems, and customer portal platforms preferred.
  • Knowledge of SQL, relational databases, and data architecture required.
  • Knowledge of project planning, documentation, and change management required.
  • Knowledge of general office equipment required.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:

Must possess current, valid driver’s license with no restrictions. Up to 20% travel required for site visits and projects.
