Cardiovascular ICU Clinical Nurse Coordinator

Methodist Hospital, part of SA Health, is seeking a Cardiovascular ICU Clinical Nurse Coordinator to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team in San Antonio. In this leadership-focused clinical role, you will coordinate and deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular patients in a fast-paced intensive care environment. Working closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, bedside nurses, and the broader interdisciplinary team, you will oversee patient care plans, support complex clinical decision-making, and ensure safe, timely interventions for patients recovering from cardiac surgery, myocardial infarction, heart failure, and other advanced cardiovascular conditions.

As the Clinical Nurse Coordinator, you will function as a resource and role model for the Cardiovascular ICU staff, providing clinical guidance, mentoring, and real-time coaching to support nursing excellence and professional growth. You will assist with daily staffing and patient assignments, help manage patient flow and bed placement within the unit, and collaborate with leadership to maintain appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios. You will contribute to performance improvement initiatives, support implementation of new protocols and best practices, and help monitor clinical quality indicators such as infection prevention, hemodynamic stability, and adherence to core measures.

This position requires strong competency in hemodynamic monitoring, cardiovascular pharmacology, ventilator management, and the care of patients with invasive lines, vasoactive infusions, temporary pacemakers, intra-aortic balloon pumps, and other advanced cardiovascular technologies. You will be expected to interpret complex clinical data, respond rapidly to changes in patient condition, and coordinate emergency interventions such as code response and rapid response activation. Clear, compassionate communication with patients and families is essential, including providing education about procedures, treatment plans, and post-ICU transitions of care.
