Chief Risk Officer Digital Bank (Boost) SVP

We are looking for a Chief Risk Officer who will lead risk strategy for our digital banking business and play a key role in shaping how risk enables growth in a technology driven environment.

This role goes beyond traditional risk management. You will have the opportunity to build, influence and scale a modern risk function within a fast evolving digital ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

Risk Strategy and Leadership

  • Define and drive the overall risk strategy aligned with business objectives and risk appetite
  • Provide strategic risk advisory to the CEO, Board and senior leadership team
  • Balance growth, innovation and risk in a digital banking environment
Risk Framework and Governance
  • Establish and continuously enhance enterprise risk frameworks, policies and controls
  • Ensure strong governance across credit risk, operational risk, technology risk and financial crime
  • Embed a consistent and forward looking risk culture across the organization
Digital and Technology Risk
  • Identify and manage risks associated with digital banking platforms, payments and data ecosystems
  • Oversee risks related to cloud, APIs, cybersecurity and emerging technologies
  • Stay ahead of evolving risks including AI, open banking and fraud trends
Regulatory and Stakeholder Management
  • Act as the primary point of contact with Bank Negara Malaysia and relevant regulators
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Present risk insights and updates to the Board and Risk Committees
Business Partnership
  • Work closely with product, engineering, compliance and operations teams to enable safe and sustainable growth
  • Support new product initiatives by ensuring risks are well understood and managed
Team Leadership
  • Build and lead a high performing, data driven risk function
  • Develop capabilities across risk, analytics, fraud and technology risk disciplines
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance, economics, business administration, risk management or a related field
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Risk Manager CRM or Financial Risk Manager FRM are an added advantage
  • Proven track record in enterprise risk leadership at CRO, Deputy CRO or equivalent level within banking, digital banking, fintech or leading consulting firms
  • Deep expertise across multiple risk domains, including credit, operational, technology and financial crime risk, with the ability to oversee enterprise-wide risk
  • Strong experience engaging with regulators, Board Risk Committees and senior executive stakeholders, with accountability for risk governance and outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience building or transforming risk functions, particularly in digital, technology-driven or fast scaling environments
  • Solid understanding of digital ecosystems, including payments, lending platforms, data driven risk models and emerging technology risks
