## Correctional Food Service Officer (Western Region - NC) The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction is hiring Correctional Food Service Officers to join the Division of Institutions and support food service operations in the Western Region of North Carolina. We are a large agency with a mission to safeguard lives and property while providing care, custody, and supervision of adults sentenced under North Carolina law. This role blends food service management with public safety responsibilities in a secure correctional environment. You will work onsite in a correctional facility preparing, serving, and distributing meals to the offender population while maintaining sanitation, safety, and security standards. Typical duties include supervising and instructing offenders in food preparation, serving, and cleanup according to established menus and schedules, monitoring compliance with sanitation and safety, and maintaining strict control of tools, equipment, and offender movement to ensure facility security. You will inspect food items and supplies for quality and quantity; report shortages or discrepancies; operate and maintain kitchen equipment and ensure preventive maintenance is completed; and complete production records, temperature logs, and inventory reports. Coordinating timely meal service and distribution to housing units, responding to emergencies or security incidents in food service areas, training and overseeing offender work crews, and assisting with ordering, receiving, and storing food and supplies in compliance with inventory control procedures are also part of the role. Necessary Special Qualifications: Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
