Dental Hygienist, Part-Time

<p>Washington, DC | On-Site |$45.67 - $50.48 per hour | Part-Time |Washington Post Top Workplace (8x Winner)</p><p><br></p><p>Community of Hope is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Part-Time Dental Hygienist to work closely with our dental care team, performing various clinical oral hygiene procedures and ensuring a positive and efficient experience for the patients we serve. This position is located at our Conway Health and Resource Center in SW, Washington, DC.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Our Approach and Values:</strong></p><p><strong>We celebrate people’s strengths and acknowledge the impact of trauma on people’s lives. </strong></p><p><strong>We embrace diversity, welcome all voices, and treat everyone with respect and compassion.</strong></p><p><strong>We lead and advocate for changes to make systems more equitable.</strong></p><p><strong>We strive for excellence and value integrity in all that we do.</strong></p><p><br></p><p><strong>What You'll Do</strong></p><ul><li>Performs patient screening procedures; such as assessment of oral health conditions, review of the health history, oral cancer screening, head and neck inspection, dental charting and taking blood pressure and pulse;</li><li>Removes calculus and plaque (hard and soft deposits) from all surfaces of the teeth via use of a cavitron, piezo or by hand instrumentation.</li><li>Performs taking and mounting diagnostic dental radiographs (x-rays).</li><li>Applies preventive materials to the teeth (e.g., sealants and fluorides).</li><li>Teaches patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health; (e.g., tooth-brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling); Incorporates different modalities to educate patients about proper oral care including but not limited to distribution of educational pamphlets, playing videos, demonstration on dentiform, etc..</li><li>Remains compliant with Community of Hope policies and state and federal regulations governing confidential information, including HIPAA and HITECH.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Must-Haves</strong></p><ul><li>Diploma from an accredited dental hygienist program.</li><li>An active DC Dental Hygienist license and Local Anesthesia Certification.</li><li>BLS Certification.</li><li>Ability to work in a non-profit environment.</li><li>Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment procedures.</li><li>Complies with all OSHA and Safety guidelines.</li><li>Proof of vaccinations is required.
