What does your job as a Digital Phenotyping Specialist at Rijk Zwaan look like?

In order to support further growth in the number of trials and to be able to support decisions with better data, Rijk Zwaan has been focusing on the digital assessment of (plant) material, also known as digital phenotyping, for years. This field is fully in development and we therefore need a Digital Phenotyping Specialist who, based on breeding knowledge and experience, helps our breeding teams to make Digital Phenotyping part of their daily work processes.

As a Digital Phenotyping Specialist, you will work for all vegetables in our locations in Spain (in Almeria, Murcia & El Ejido). Intensive cooperation with colleagues from IT and Breeding Operations is paramount. You will coordinate projects for the development and implementation of Digital Phenotyping at Rijk Zwaan, specifically at our breeding hub in Spain.

You are the link to various stakeholders within the organization (also in the Netherlands) and can translate breeding needs into digital solutions.

As a Digital Phenotyping Specialist, you will be involved in:

·Planning and coordinating projects in which software solutions and (image analysis) technology improve the processes of breeding;

·Supervising the international implementation of Digital Phenotyping solutions at our breeding station in Spain;

·Advising on the applicability of commercial hardware and software;

·Research into new possibilities and technologies that can be used for Digital Phenotyping;

·Continuously improving our image analysis processes so that they support Digital Phenotyping more and more efficiently;

·Translating breeders' wishes into concrete proposals for improvement of Digital Phenotyping projects;

·Translating and integrating digital data and analyses into the working methods and needs of breeders;

·Adoption of Digital Phenotyping and the associated change process within breeding.

In addition, you have experience in leading change processes and your enthusiasm makes it easy to take people along in new developments.

preferably big data analytics/science background

·Affinity with the implementation of hardware and software systems in operational processes.

·Fluent in Spanish and English, both spoken and in writing.

·Experience in project management is welcome

As a Digital Phenotyping Specialist, you will be part of the Breeding Process & Organisation (BP&O) team and located in our breeding hub in Spain. The team consists of specialists in the fields of Genomic Breeding, Data Sciences, Digital Phenotying, process analysis and project management, whose joint task is to improve and optimise the processes and organisation within the breeding of all crops in Rijk Zwaan.

You will work closely with the Applied Image Analysis team. This is a multi-disciplinary team consisting of specialists with knowledge of AI, image analysis, data processing, Digital Phenotyping, software development, breeding and mechanical engineering. Immediately a permanent contract
