Director of Logistics

<p><strong>Overview:</strong></p><p>Our client, an industry-leading and award-winning organization, is seeking a Director of Logistics to oversee and optimize global import operations. This individual will lead logistics strategy, ensure compliance with international trade regulations, and drive operational excellence across the supply chain.</p><p><br></p><p>The role partners closely with internal departments to improve ERP/CRM system utilization, streamline logistics processes, and lead a high-performing team focused on efficient, cost-effective, and timely product movement.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Oversee day-to-day import logistics operations while ensuring adherence to company standards and international trade compliance requirements.</li><li>Coordinate international shipments from overseas ports to domestic warehouse locations, including scheduling, tracking, and issue resolution.</li><li>Manage freight and transportation spend, negotiate carrier contracts and rates, and identify cost-saving opportunities.</li><li>Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, carriers, customs brokers, and freight forwarders.</li><li>Provide expertise on customs documentation, import regulations, USDA/FDA requirements, and trade compliance procedures.</li><li>Develop, implement, and refine SOPs to improve operational efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.</li><li>Drive effective use and continuous improvement of ERP (Business Central) and CRM (Customer Engagement) systems.</li><li>Monitor logistics trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes to proactively recommend operational improvements.</li><li>Resolve shipment delays, discrepancies, and customer issues in a timely and professional manner.</li><li>Track and report on key logistics metrics, shipment performance, and operational KPIs.</li><li>Support system upgrades and enhancements through testing, validation, and process feedback.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transportation, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.</li><li>5+ years of experience in import/export logistics within a global supply chain environment.</li><li>Previous leadership experience managing logistics or import operations teams.</li><li>Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.</li><li>Experience working in fast-paced, multicultural business environments preferred.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Core Competencies:</strong></p><ul><li>Strong understanding of international supply chain operations, import compliance, and global trade practices.</li><li>Knowledge of Incoterms, customs procedures, USDA/FDA regulations, and port operations.</li><li>Experience with ocean freight, domestic transportation, and carrier management.</li><li>Hands-on experience with TMS, WMS, ERP platforms, and transportation/logistics systems.</li><li>Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.</li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.</li><li>Ability to prioritize competing demands and operate effectively under tight deadlines.</li><li>Collaborative leadership style with strong business acumen and operational mindset.</li><li>Self-starter with the adaptability and initiative to thrive in a dynamic environment.</li></ul><p></p>
