Manages and evaluates workflows while recommending re-engineering of processes around utilization of computerized clinical applications to improve the work-flow of patient care and maximize departmental and organizational efficiency and effectiveness. May act as expert in business or functional area. Formulates/defines system scope and objectives. May be responsible for multiple clinical projects or multiple phases of a clinical systems project. May instruct and direct other clinical applications systems analysts. Maintains a working knowledge of applicable federal, state, local and regulatory law in relation to clinical documentation and electronic medical records. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Nursing plus five (5) years nursing experience two (2) of which must include information systems experience. Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required NA Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Extensive working and build knowledge of electronic health record. Knowledge of system features and integration capabilities. Ability to self-manage yet also functions well in a team environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to create, design, or enhance computer applications. Ability to test, debug, document, or install systems. Sound knowledge of quality measures (core measures, meaningful use, etc.), process improvement and quality outcomes. Solid organizational skills with the ability to focus detailed, concentrated effort to multiple projects and re-establish priorities as necessary. Ability to supervise, evaluate, and/or provide functional guidance to assigned subordinate personnel or personnel assigned on a temporary or intermittent basis. Responsibilities • Researches, tests, debugs, trains, installs, and supports electronic health record system supported by UMMC information systems. Develops and maintains education and competency validation process to provide on-going end user clinical system support to include upgrades, new releases & enhanced functionality. • Collaborates with various departments, nursing, epic build team, and key leaders to support evidence-based practice and education. Partners with staff/leaders & other epic hospitals to identify and help establish UMMC best practices and improve clinical applications. • Works with is staff, users, and vendors as necessary to find the best technological means to meet business needs. Keeps abreast of current and new technologies and serves as a resource to other analytical staff. • Utilizes clinical practice to determine the appropriate informatics workflow for clinical functions and processes ensuring consistency with professional standard of practice and compliance with federal, state, local and regulatory agencies • Participates in project teams, special projects, and other tasks as assigned by director or designated team leader.
