Job Summary

Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking a highly skilled Freelance Remote Technical Designer to join our growing team of apparel professionals. The ideal candidate will specialize in creating detailed tech packs for apparel, translating creative designs into precise technical specifications for manufacturers. This role requires a meticulous eye for detail, strong knowledge of garment construction, and the ability to work independently while meeting tight deadlines. As a freelance remote position, the designer will collaborate closely with designers, product developers, and production teams to ensure the highest quality product outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive tech packs for apparel, including measurements, materials, trims, colorways, construction details, and production instructions.

  • Collaborate with designers and product developers to ensure designs are accurately translated into technical specifications.

  • Review and refine patterns, fit samples, and prototypes, providing detailed feedback for improvements.

  • Ensure compliance with brand guidelines, manufacturing standards, and quality requirements.

  • Maintain organized and up-to-date documentation of all technical specifications.

  • Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers remotely to clarify technical details and resolve production queries.

  • Support the team with troubleshooting garment construction and fit challenges.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience in technical design for apparel, including creation of tech packs for various garment types.

  • Proficiency in technical design software such as Adobe Illustrator, PLM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, trims, and production processes.

  • Excellent communication skills for remote collaboration with internal teams and external vendors.

  • Ability to interpret designer sketches and transform them into detailed technical specifications.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in measurements, annotations, and documentation.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a technical designer in the apparel industry.
