Role Overview

We are partnering with a leading regional financial institution to appoint a Head of AI . This is a critical leadership role responsible for driving enterprise-wide AI strategy and scaling AI capabilities across multiple markets in Southeast Asia.

The role combines strategic leadership and hands-on expertise, with a strong focus on delivering business value through AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and scale the team of approximately 15 AI and data professionals
  • Define and execute the Group AI strategy and roadmap across multiple countries
  • Drive the development and deployment of AI use cases aligned to business priorities
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders across business and technology functions to embed AI into core operations
  • Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing team of data scientists, ML engineers, and AI specialists
  • Establish governance, frameworks, and best practices for AI/ML lifecycle management
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and risk requirements within a highly regulated environment
  • Act as a thought leader on AI innovation and emerging technologies
Requirements
  • ~15–20 years of experience, with strong depth in AI, machine learning, and data science
  • Currently in a leadership role, managing teams of at least 10+ members
  • Proven track record as a hands-on AI/ML practitioner earlier in career
  • Experience operating in large, complex, matrix organizations with multiple stakeholders
  • Demonstrated success in delivering enterprise AI initiatives and business outcomes
  • Background in banking, financial services, insurance, or consulting preferred
  • Exposure to regional or multinational environments is advantageous
