Head of Competitive Intelligence, Personal Wealth

Vanguard Personal Wealth is building something new. As Head of Competitive Intelligence, you will stand up a dedicated function from scratch — bringing rigor, consistency, and strategic focus to how we understand our competitive landscape. This is a high-impact role at the core of Personal Wealth strategy: ensuring our leadership team has the external perspective needed to set direction, benchmark performance, and raise competitive acumen across the entire organization. Responsibilities

  • Stand up and lead a new competitive intelligence function for Personal Wealth — defining the operating model, research agenda, and analytical standards from the ground up
  • Develop and own the research and insight strategy for Personal Wealth, informing strategic direction across business areas
  • Engage and influence senior internal stakeholders to strengthen competitive acumen and translate intelligence into strategic action
  • Synthesize competitive intelligence and broad industry trends to inform decisions on strategy, offer design, pricing, and positioning; share findings and best practices across business lines
  • Set direction and coach team on innovative research methodologies; maintain subject matter expertise across the financial services competitive landscape
  • Participate in the development and execution of business plan initiatives; manage budgets and vendors to ensure quality and completeness of deliverables
  • Connect signals across projects and programs to surface broader trends; elevate key findings to senior leadership as needed
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned
  • Hire, evaluate, and supervise a team of competitive intelligence researchers; set performance standards and develop crew in accordance with HR policies

Qualifications

  • 8 or more years of work experience
  • Experience in competitive intelligence or corporate strategy preferred
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience; graduate degree preferred (MBA, Masters in Market Research, Psychology, or Marketing)
