Marketo Platform Operations Consultant

The Role

As a Marketo Platform Operations Consultant at Etumos, you will lead and execute client engagements focused on optimizing marketing operations performance, scalability, and ROI through advanced use of Adobe Marketo Engage. You will partner closely with client stakeholders to assess their current marketing automation maturity, architect scalable solutions, and implement best-in-class Marketo programs that drive operational efficiency, lead conversion, and measurable business impact.

This role requires deep hands-on Marketo expertise combined with strong consulting, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills. Using extensive Marketo experience and Etumos’ proven frameworks, you will design and deploy robust marketing automation ecosystems, improve lead lifecycle management, and establish governance and operational standards that scale across organizations.

You will serve as a trusted advisor to clients by identifying operational gaps, recommending strategic improvements, and collaborating cross-functionally with marketing, sales, RevOps, CRM administrators, and technical teams to solve complex business challenges.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic marketing operations engagements centered around the optimization and expansion of Adobe Marketo Engage capabilities and architecture.
  • Assess client marketing automation maturity and develop scalable roadmaps for improving campaign execution, lead management, reporting, and operational efficiency.
  • Design, build, test, and deploy Marketo programs, including:
    • Engagement and nurture programs
    • Lead scoring models
    • Lifecycle processing
    • Smart campaigns and trigger campaigns
    • Segmentation strategies
    • Email programs and personalization
    • Data normalization and governance workflows
  • Architect and optimize integrations between Marketo and CRM platforms such as Salesforce, ensuring accurate lead flow, attribution, synchronization, and reporting.
  • Configure and maintain scalable marketing automation infrastructure using industry best practices and Etumos’ proven operational frameworks.
  • Identify process inefficiencies, system limitations, and data quality issues; develop strategic recommendations and implementation plans to improve performance and scalability.
  • Advise clients on marketing operations governance, campaign standards, naming conventions, QA processes, and operational best practices.
  • Develop operational reporting frameworks and dashboards to measure campaign effectiveness, funnel performance, database health, and marketing contribution to pipeline and revenue.
  • Collaborate with client stakeholders and internal teams to gather business requirements, align priorities, and drive consensus on technical and operational solutions.
  • Deliver comprehensive documentation, implementation walkthroughs, training sessions, and enablement materials for client teams and administrators.
  • Facilitate client meetings and communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Manage multiple concurrent client engagements, timelines, priorities, and deliverables in a fast-paced consulting environment.
  • Support continuous optimization initiatives through testing, analysis, and performance monitoring across marketing automation programs and workflows.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Marketing Operations, Marketing Automation, RevOps, or Marketing Technology roles.
  • Deep hands-on expertise with Adobe Marketo Engage, including advanced program architecture, smart campaigns, lead scoring, segmentation, tokens, forms, landing pages, and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of lead lifecycle management, campaign operations, database management, and marketing automation best practices.
  • Experience integrating and managing Marketo with CRM platforms such as Salesforce.
  • Proven experience designing, testing, troubleshooting, and optimizing complex marketing automation programs and workflows.
  • Marketo certification is strongly preferred (Marketo Certified Expert or equivalent MAP certifications).
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret marketing performance data and recommend operational improvements.
  • Experience with attribution reporting, funnel analytics, and marketing performance measurement preferred.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple clients and initiatives simultaneously.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with experience presenting recommendations and solutions to executive and stakeholder audiences.
  • Consulting experience or experience working in client-facing environments strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with additional marketing technology platforms, integrations, and data management tools is a plus.
