POSITION: Music Teacher / Band Director

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Principal

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

Pursuant to****West Virginia Code, if a current JCS employee is selected as a finalist for this position, the employee is not eligible to transfer until the 2026–2027 school year.

EMPLOYMENT TERM: Minimum 240 days annually, pursuant to WV Code §18-5-45; extended employment terms may be established by JCBOE

SALARY: Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-2, in accordance with Jefferson County Teacher Salary Schedule, commensurate with verified years of experience relevant to position and education level

EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated by the building principal/immediate supervisor and in accordance with WV State Code §18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5310, and JCBOE Evaluation Policy

JOB SUMMARY: Provides appropriate instruction, learning activities, and experiences that ensure all students meet the learning objectives and standards for the appropriate content and grade level.

  • Implementing programs of study,
  • Fostering a classroom climate conducive to learning,
  • Utilizing instructional management systems models which increase student learning,
  • Monitoring student progress towards mastery of instructional objectives and goals,
  • Communicating within the educational community, and
  • Meeting professional responsibilities

Definition: Provides curricula required by the state of West Virginia.
  • Bases instruction on adopted curricula for the school.
