Job Summary

Houston Skilled Consultancy is looking for compassionate, student‑centric Online Tutors to teach core school subjects (English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and optional language subjects) to students from primary to senior secondary grades through live virtual classes. This is a part‑time, fully remote role ideal for educators, postgraduate students, homemakers, or professionals who love teaching and want flexible hours. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging 1:1 or small-group online classes using platforms such as Zoom/Google Meet/MS Teams and an LMS/Google Classroom.

  • Plan, structure, and deliver lesson plans aligned with the relevant board curriculum (CBSE/ICSE/State Boards/IGCSE/IB, as applicable).

  • Diagnose learning gaps and personalize instruction to suit each students pace and level.

  • Design and evaluate quizzes, assignments, worksheets, and practice tests to monitor progress.

  • Maintain accurate attendance, performance records, and session reports.

  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians on student performance, areas for improvement, and study plans.

  • Use digital whiteboards and interactive tools to make sessions participatory and outcome-driven.

  • Provide homework support, doubt‑clearing sessions, and exam preparation guidance.

  • Uphold academic integrity, data privacy, and professional classroom etiquette in all interactions.

  • Continuously upskill through internal training, feedback loops, and best‑practice sharing.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree (or higher) in Education or the subject you wish to teach (e.g., B.Sc./M.Sc. for Science, B.A./M.A. for Humanities, B.Ed./M.Ed. preferred).

  • Strong command over at least one school subject (Maths/Science/English/Social Studies/Languages).

  • Excellent spoken and written English; proficiency in Hindi or regional languages is an added advantage.

  • Confident with online teaching tools: Zoom/Google Meet, Google Classroom, MS Office/Google Workspace, online whiteboards (Jamboard, Miro, etc.).

  • Strong lesson planning, classroom management, and assessment skills.

  • Empathy, patience, and the ability to motivate students across different age groups and capabilities.

  • Reliable high‑speed internet connection, laptop/desktop with webcam and microphone, and a quiet teaching environment.

Experience

  • 0–5 years of teaching/tutoring experience (online or offline). Freshers with strong subject knowledge and a passion for teaching are welcome.

  • Prior experience teaching CBSE/ICSE/IB/IGCSE curricula or coaching for school/board exams will be a plus.

  • Experience in creating digital learning content (worksheets, PPTs, quizzes) is desirable.

Working Hours

  • Flexible, part-time slots—you can opt for weekday evenings and/or weekends (typical peak hours: 4:00 PM – 9:30 PM IST on weekdays, 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM IST on weekends).

  • Minimum weekly commitment to be mutually agreed (e.g., 10–20 hours/week depending on your availability and subject demand).

  • Ability to support additional classes during exam seasons will be appreciated.
