Position Overview We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Online English Tutor to join our team in providing high-quality language instruction to students in the Calgary area. As an Online English Tutor, you will play a pivotal role in helping students enhance their language skills, improve their confidence, and achieve their academic and personal goals. Responsibilities • Deliver Engaging Lessons Plan and deliver interactive and engaging online English lessons to students of various age groups and proficiency levels. Create lesson plans that focus on grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing skills, and conversational English. • Assess Student Needs Evaluate students' language abilities and learning styles to tailor lessons accordingly. Provide personalized feedback and track individual progress, adjusting teaching methods as required. • Encourage Participation Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and collaboration. Utilize various teaching tools, multimedia resources, and interactive activities to keep students motivated and engaged. • Provide Constructive Feedback Offer constructive feedback on students' assignments, written work, and spoken language. Help students identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to overcome language challenges. • Communication Maintain clear and timely communication with students and their parents/guardians regarding lesson schedules, progress, and any concerns. Address inquiries and provide support as needed. • Adaptability Adapt to different student needs and adapt teaching strategies to accommodate various learning levels and styles. Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate students' availability may be required. • Stay Current Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in language teaching methodologies, educational technology, and curriculum design. Continuously enhance your own teaching skills and adapt them to online teaching environments. • Record Keeping Maintain accurate records of lesson plans, student attendance, progress reports, and assessment results. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in English, Education, Linguistics, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). • Previous teaching/tutoring experience, especially in an online setting, is highly advantageous. • Strong command of the English language, both written and spoken. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Proficiency in using online teaching platforms and tools. • Patient, approachable, and enthusiastic demeanor. • Ability to motivate and inspire students to achieve their language goals. • Knowledge of language assessment tools and techniques. • Familiarity with curriculum development and lesson planning. • Reliable internet connection and appropriate teaching environment.
