Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Operations & Business Development Manager to support the Norfolk, VA market. This role blends hands-on operational leadership with a strong focus on business growth, vendor partnerships, and revenue-driving initiatives. The ideal candidate will ensure daily operational excellence while identifying opportunities to expand services, improve profitability, and strengthen external relationships.

Operations Leadership

  • Oversee fleet operations including maintenance, scheduling, dispatch, and asset utilization
  • Assist the VP of Operations in managing and coordinating transportation activities
  • Implement, monitor, and continuously improve operational policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations
  • Coordinate daily with the in-house shop to prioritize repairs and manage outside repair vendors
  • Perform daily key audits and account for all vehicles on the lot
  • Manage vehicle onboarding and removal processes
  • Partner with the Safety team to ensure all driver, vehicle, and D&A files meet regulatory and contract requirements
  • Manage, mentor, and develop staff to foster performance, accountability, and collaboration
  • Handle customer inquiries and resolve escalations promptly and professionally

Business Development & Growth

  • Identify and support new business opportunities including corporate, municipal, and strategic partnership accounts
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop and execute growth strategies that drive revenue expansion
  • Analyze operational and financial performance to uncover efficiency and profitability opportunities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, partners, and stakeholders
  • Support pricing strategies, fleet optimization, and service enhancements
  • Work cross-functionally with Sales, Finance, and Corporate Operations to align execution with business goals

  • Proficiency with transportation management systems and operational tools
  • Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance requirements
