Part-Time Bartender

Chalkboard Wings & BBQ is hiring a part-time bartenders. In just 4 years we have already established ourselves as the go-to neighborhood bar with many of our customers coming from within a 1-3 mile radius, and won the accolade of Best Wings in Alexandria by readers of Zebra Press Magazine the past three years. This position will require at least 2 weekend night shifts.

  • Food Menu - Wings, burgers, BBQ
  • Beer - 13 beers on draft and another 15-20 in can and bottle. Craft beer knowledge is a plus, but we're willing to train. No macro beers on draft.
  • Cocktails - Easy to make 2-3 pour cocktails using primarily local spirits.
  • Whiskey - 50+ top shelf whiskeys and growing
  • Atmosphere - Family friendly and a lot of local support. We're the only independently owned American restaurant with a bar within an 8 mile radius. We're also located less than a mile from Fort Belvoir with a 22,000 person population.
  • Hours - 11:00am-10pm Sunday-Wednesday, and 11pm Thursday-Saturday and open until the end of major sporting events and all NFL games during football season.
We're looking for a bartender or experienced server who is ready to handle some volume. We're more than willing to train up the right people with the right attitude. This position Chalkboard Wings & BBQ is growing as we increase our number of popup events and catering events. Staff will have the opportunity to also work these events at higher hourly rates based upon performance.

We're located in South Alexandria between Mount Vernon and Fort Belvoir along the Route 1 Corridor

Job Requirements

  • Must be 21+ as you are serving alcohol
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs+ a few times a day
  • Weekend Availability is a must, don't apply if you can't work most weekends
  • Must be able to work both day and night shifts
  • Verify identification and age requirements of customers
  • Mix traditional and creative cocktails
  • Process payment from customers
  • Clean glasses and bar utensils
  • Make suggestions based on customer tastes and preferences
  • Record and balance cash receipts and prepare cash deposits
  • Open and maintain tabs throughout their shift
  • Build a rapport with regular customers to create a positive atmosphere
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time Pay: $25.00 - $60.00 per hour
