Pillars Mosque (f/k/a Muslim Community Center of Charlotte) is a vibrant and growing nonprofit organization serving the Muslim community in Charlotte, NC. We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented part-time bookkeeper to manage our day-to-day financial operations in QuickBooks Online. Job Responsibilities

•Record and post all income and expense transactions to the general ledger in QuickBooks Online (QBO)

• Categorize and code transactions accurately using our existing chart of accounts

• Enter and track donor contributions, pledges, and deposit records

• Process accounts payable, ensuring vendor invoices and bills are paid on schedule

• Perform weekly reconciliations of all bank accounts (Truist) and credit cards every Monday for the prior week

• Reconcile payroll entries posted by Gusto to QBO records

• Execute month-end closing procedures following GAAP/ASC 958 standards

• Maintain fixed asset schedules, track depreciation/amortization, and post adjustments

• Generate internal financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) from QBO monthly

• Deliver a monthly closed package by the 15th of the following month

• Prepare annual Forms 1099 for contractors (if applicable)

• Payroll processing through Gusto is a plus but not required

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping experience

• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) – required

• Experience with bank and credit card reconciliations

• Understanding of accrual-basis accounting and GAAP fundamentals

• Familiarity with nonprofit accounting (ASC 958 / fund accounting concepts)

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently

• Excellent organizational and time management skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Gusto payroll processing

• Familiarity with donor management systems (Neon CRM or similar)

• QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification

• Experience with mosque, church, or house-of-worship financial management

• Located near Charlotte, NC (remote candidates welcome to apply but preference is for local candidates)

Compensation & Details

• Type: Independent Contractor (1099), with potential conversion to Part-Time Employee

• Hours: Approximately 20–30 hours per month

• Schedule: Flexible, but weekly reconciliations are due every Monday

• Location: Charlotte, NC preferred; remote considered for the right candidate

• Start Date: Immediate
