People Technology Analyst - Workday

Why This Job is Featured on The SaaS Jobs

Modern SaaS companies increasingly treat internal platforms as products, and Workday sits at the center of how HR and payroll decisions get executed at scale. This People Technology Analyst role is featured because it reflects that shift: ownership of a system-of-record where configuration choices directly affect employee lifecycle processes, governance, and operational reliability.

For a SaaS career, the long-term value comes from building fluency in platform thinking inside a high-change environment. Release management, data quality standards, security design, and reporting are recurring themes across SaaS operations, whether the domain is People, Finance, or Customer systems. Experience translating complex stakeholder needs into durable business processes is also highly portable, especially when paired with an analytics mindset that turns workforce data into decisions.

This role tends to suit professionals who like structured problem solving and can work with significant autonomy while still partnering closely with People and IT stakeholders. It is a strong match for someone who enjoys being the internal Workday authority, mentoring others, and improving how work moves through a company via configuration, controls, and clear documentation.

  • Lead evaluation and adoption of new features with each Workday release; identify creative solutions and guide policy development for optimization across modules.
  • This role is primarily focused on functional configurations within Workday and will partner closely with integration developers, not be responsible for integration build.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Develop and own advanced, matrix, composite, and dashboard reports in Workday; apply in-depth analytical judgment to surface actionable workforce insights for senior stakeholders.
  • Drive data quality and integrity standards across Workday and connected systems; provide in-depth analytical insights to inform workforce decisions and cross-functional planning.

Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Lead regression and functional testing for biannual Workday releases; determine procedures and guide team approach to ensure quality and business continuity.

Collaboration & Support

  • Network with key contacts across functions; adapt communication style to diverse audiences and frequently advise others—including senior partners—on complex Workday matters, using persuasion and judgment to drive alignment.
  • Provide expert-level Workday system support; independently diagnose and resolve complex issues, and develop scalable solutions that prevent recurrence.
  • Mentor and upskill team members and key users on Workday functionality; act as an internal subject matter authority on system capabilities and best practices.

Here’s what we're looking for:

Required:

  • 8+ years of hands-on Workday development or configuration experience (or 6 years with a Master’s degree; or equivalent experience).
  • Advanced, wide-ranging knowledge of Workday security, business processes, reporting, and calculated fields; proven ability to independently determine methods and techniques on new, complex assignments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on complex, ambiguous issues requiring in-depth evaluation; exercises independent judgment in selecting approaches, with work reviewed upon completion rather than in progress.
