General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Poway California Job Summary General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems. This position is for a mid-level engineer in the USAF Lead Off Hitter Development group located in Poway, CA. The candidate will, under limited direction, work with other functional engineering groups integrating software capabilities for the MQ-9A Unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV) System, including Ground Control Station and Training Systems. In this role, the candidate will work individually and as part of a team to accomplish the given project objectives. Applicant must be able to effectively communicate with all functional engineering departments, all program management specialties, external customers, sub-contractors, and vendors.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Initiate the planning of engineering projects Develop innovative designs or modifications to meet project goals Communicate and coordinate with other engineering departments (safety, flight technologies, systems, software, quality etc) to complete tasks in accordance with project requirements Apply technical knowledge to analyze, investigate and resolve assigned engineering problems Resolve conflicting design/development requirements, difficult coordination requirements, and special material requirements Perform functional testing and troubleshooting of equipment and systems in assigned area by utilizing standard engineering and scientific principles Obtain and analyze test data and document findings Recommend solutions to engineering problems based upon investigation findings, test data, and timelines Represent the organization as the prime technical contact on small contracts or single component projects in assigned area of expertise Make technical presentations to internal staff and customer representatives, as necessary Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information Perform other duties as assigned Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices We recognize and appreciate the value and contributions of individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences and welcome all qualified individuals to apply.

May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education. Must have a general understanding of engineering concepts, principles, and theory with technical experience demonstrating the application of those concepts while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment and organize work assignments to meet established timetables. Good communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance is required.
