Job Summary

Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Docker/Kubernetes Architect to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of containerization and orchestration strategies across enterprise systems. This is a pivotal role responsible for crafting scalable and secure container infrastructure for mission-critical applications, with a focus on automation, reliability, and performance. As a remote leader in cloud-native environments, you will collaborate closely with engineering and DevOps teams to modernize deployments and accelerate our cloud transformation journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and design scalable, secure, and resilient container-based infrastructure using Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Lead the deployment, management, and monitoring of Kubernetes clusters in cloud or hybrid environments.

  • Develop and enforce best practices for containerization, orchestration, microservices, and CI/CD workflows.

  • Collaborate with developers, cloud engineers, and security teams to ensure efficient DevSecOps integration.

  • Troubleshoot complex system issues related to containerization and orchestrated services.

  • Define and maintain IaC (Infrastructure as Code) using tools such as Helm, Terraform, and Ansible.

  • Evaluate and implement container security solutions, monitoring tools, and service mesh frameworks.

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and DevOps professionals.

  • Drive technical documentation and knowledge sharing for scalability and maintainability.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven expertise in Docker and Kubernetes architecture, administration, and automation.

  • Strong understanding of container lifecycle, orchestration principles, and Kubernetes internals.

  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Go.

  • Hands-on experience with Helm, Kustomize, and Kubernetes Operators.

  • Solid understanding of CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or ArgoCD.

  • Deep knowledge of networking, DNS, load balancing, and storage in Kubernetes environments.

  • Experience with monitoring/logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Fluentd, or ELK Stack.

  • Knowledge of service meshes (e.g., Istio, Linkerd) and Kubernetes RBAC, Network Policies, and PodSecurity.

  • Cloud platform experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud (GCP) is essential.

Experience

  • Minimum 7+ years of IT experience with at least 4+ years focused on containerization and orchestration technologies.

  • Proven experience designing, deploying, and maintaining Kubernetes clusters in production.

  • Strong background in infrastructure automation and DevOps culture.

Working Hours

  • Flexible remote working hours with overlapping time availability between 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM IST for team sync-ups and collaboration.

  • May require occasional availability for critical incident response or architecture reviews across time zones.
