[Remote] M&A, Ventures and Accounting Policy Manager

As an M&A and Accounting Policy Manager, you will serve as the primary accounting resource across the M&A and investment transaction lifecycle, applying US GAAP expertise and partnering with various teams to drive accounting conclusions. Responsibilities Lead financial due diligence on target companies, including quality of earnings analysis, working capital assessments, and identification of accounting exposures, off-balance-sheet items, and deal-relevant risks Own end-to-end purchase accounting for completed acquisitions under ASC 805, including purchase price allocation, intangible asset recognition, goodwill calculation, and measurement period adjustments Determine and apply the appropriate accounting treatment for strategic investments under ASC 321, ASC 323, and ASC 810, including equity method and fair value option elections Maintain and update Coinbase's accounting policies, prepare technical accounting memos on new or evolving products and transactions, and bring each analysis to closure in partnership with external auditors Draft original footnote disclosures, MD&A, and transaction-related disclosures for 10-Q and 10-K filings, and ensure SOX controls related to business combinations, investments, and accounting policies are designed and operating effectively Partner with Product, Legal, Tax, FP&A, Controllership, and Corporate Development to provide accounting expertise for new product launches, complex transactions, and post-close integration Skills 9+ years of progressive accounting experience with a strong mix of Big 4 public accounting and industry experience; CPA required Demonstrated breadth and depth of US GAAP knowledge, including M&A accounting (ASC 805), investment accounting (ASC 321, ASC 323), and consolidation (ASC 810) Proven experience leading financial due diligence, including quality of earnings analysis, working capital assessment, and identification of accounting risks across live deal processes Track record of managing external consultants and advisors across M&A workstreams, including scoping engagements, reviewing deliverables, and holding advisors to quality and timeline standards Proven ability to draft technical accounting memos and original financial statement disclosures that clearly communicate complex accounting conclusions to cross-functional stakeholders at all organizational levels Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality Benefits Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)) Company Overview Coinbase is a crypto exchange and wallet platform that allows merchants and consumers to buy, sell, and store digital currencies.
