Remote Volunteer Services Associate – American Red Cross Employment Opportunity

Job Summary

The American Red Cross is seeking a dedicated and organized Remote Volunteer Services Associate to support the strategic engagement and management of volunteers across various programs. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that our mission is delivered through the engagement of compassionate, mission-driven volunteers. Working closely with field teams and program managers, the Volunteer Services Associate will coordinate recruitment, placement, onboarding, and retention of volunteers, while enhancing the overall volunteer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support volunteer recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and retention processes across service lines.

  • Maintain accurate volunteer records in our volunteer management systems (e.g., Volunteer Connection).

  • Collaborate with local leaders to ensure adequate volunteer coverage in disaster response, blood services, and other program areas.

  • Coordinate and track volunteer training and certifications.

  • Respond to volunteer inquiries and provide timely assistance and guidance.

  • Assist in planning and executing volunteer appreciation and recognition events.

  • Analyze volunteer metrics and support reporting requirements to track impact and engagement.

  • Help develop and distribute communication materials related to volunteer engagement.

  • Provide administrative support for virtual meetings, events, and initiatives.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills—both written and verbal.

  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.

  • Comfortable using or learning CRM and volunteer management systems.

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a virtual environment.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1–2 years of professional experience in volunteer management, community engagement, nonprofit operations, human resources, or customer service.

  • Prior involvement with the American Red Cross (volunteer or staff) is advantageous but not required.

Working Hours

  • Full-Time: 35–40 hours per week

  • Flexible schedule with availability to occasionally support evening/weekend volunteer needs across time zones.

  • 100% Remote – Candidates must reside in the United States.
