The Boeing Company is seeking a Mid-Level Systems Engineer with expertise in datalink, flight management systems (FMS), flight planning, airplane systems integration, and aircraft performance to join BGS Engineering in Seattle, WA or Everett, WA. The team develops Flight Efficiency and Sustainability products within Boeing Digital Services and supports Boeing Commercial Airplanes’ future capabilities.

RouteSync is a flight-efficiency system that uplinks an airline’s Operational Flight Plan and the latest weather (winds/temperatures) via ACARS to the aircraft Flight Management Computer, enabling more accurate trajectory predictions, reducing pilot workload, and minimizing manual entry errors.

In this role, the Systems Engineer will own system‑level design, development, customer onboarding, Boeing’s flight plan, performance, and weather uplink solution to the Flight Management System. The Systems Engineer will work closely with airline customers, flight‑deck systems (FMS/EFB), datalink (ACARS/AOC), cloud services, industry and dispatcher operations to define future capabilities, requirements, validate integrations, and deliver reliable pre‑flight and enroute synchronization capabilities.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to lead activities to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system and system solutions

  • Define system interfaces and integration points with airline AOC systems, Flight Planning systems, datalink systems, FMS and monitoring tools

  • Support customer onboarding: integration planning, configuration, test plans, deployments and monitoring

  • Create system test cases, perform integration testing, and analyze logs to troubleshoot uplink/downlink failures

  • Coordinate across products, software engineering, QA, operations, and airline stakeholders to deliver releases and resolve field issues

  • Research and recommend new system requirements to improve product capabilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve aircraft performance and efficiency

  • Conduct research and stay updated on industry trends, competition offerings and advancements in datalink, navigation, air traffic management and weather sources

  • Support the team from different time zones, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration

  • Support development of Design Practices

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • 1+ years of experience with commercial aircraft datalink applications, such as ADS-C, ATS, AOC, and ACARS

  • 1+ years of experience in the area of Communications and Navigation or Flight Management

  • 3+ years of experience with systems integration, verification, validation, ICDs, risk, issues and opportunities management and/or trade studies

  • Experience managing multiple projects and communication from global, cross-functional stakeholders while balancing impact on business needs

  • 3+ years of experience working with aerospace industry specifications and standards, part and/or process requirements

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with flight planning and optimization, aircraft trajectory, and performance initialization

  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to produce technical documentation and present to customers and stakeholders

  • Experience in aircraft systems design, integration, or verification (commercial or military aerospace)

  • Strong background in systems integration, and optimization techniques for aviation applications

  • Experience with cloud-based services, APIs/SDKs, and EFB/flight deck application architectures

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards related to EFB applications and connectivity

  • Experience working directly with airline customers and supporting operational deployments

  • Experience developing technical roadmaps, defining requirements, and translating strategy into deliverables

  • Proven ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and multiple product lines

  • Familiarity with airplane avionics, network protocols, and aircraft systems integration

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, communication, and teamwork skills

Summary pay range: $119,850 - $162,150
