AI Data Scientist Sr.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To partner with stakeholders to identify, scope, and execute advanced analytics and data science projects; to design data modeling processes, create algorithms, and predictive models; and to share insights that inform and enable business decisions.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build, prototype, and deploy machine learning models in production environments.
  • Collaborate with product, technology, and other stakeholders to identify and scope data science projects.
  • Communicate modeling challenges, findings, and outcomes to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Design and implement end-to-end ETL (extract, transform, load) data pipelines integrating data from multiple data sources.
  • Explore new internal and external data sources and assess their commercial benefit.
  • Mentor team members and serve as a subject‑matter expert in cross‑functional discussions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree or Ph.D. with major in statistics, mathematics, computer science, data science, economics, or related quantitative field from an accredited college or university preferred.

Ten (10) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, including three (3) years of predictive modeling, data science, and analysis experience, with a solid background in using data visualization tools and libraries, data exploration, data wrangling, and feature engineering.

Experience with natural language processing and healthcare data preferred.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Proficiency writing code in Python or R and documenting for reproducibility.
  • Strong knowledge of reviewing others’ models and code.
  • Ability to use data visualization tools and libraries.
  • Strong data exploration, data wrangling, and feature engineering skills.
  • Knowledge of supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of SQL to query relational databases.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products.
  • Analytical and interpretive skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to create and complete comprehensive, accurate and constructive written reports.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to meet or exceed performance competencies.

As required by law, Sedgwick provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in jurisdictions requiring pay transparency in job postings. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and cost of specific location. For the jurisdiction noted in this job posting only, the range of starting pay for this role is ($120,000 - $160,000 USD annually). A comprehensive benefits package is offered including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, 401(k) and matching, PTO, disability and life insurance, employee assistance, flexible spending or health savings account, and other voluntary benefits.
