This role offers a one-year contract with a strong likelihood of extension or conversion to a permanent position as budget cycles renew. The ideal candidate will possess a balanced background in SQL Server administration and SQL development, with a strong focus on SSRS reporting and data troubleshooting.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Position Summary</strong></p><p>This role supports a mission-critical voter registration and election reporting system containing approximately 1.5 million voter records, including over 800,000 active registered voters. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining data integrity, supporting election readiness initiatives, and producing reporting deliverables that are essential to the organization's election operations.</p><p><br></p><p>A significant responsibility includes supporting the generation and validation of official poll books used during election cycles. The team begins extensive testing and validation efforts ahead of major elections to ensure reporting accuracy, data quality, and operational readiness.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><p><strong>SQL Server Administration (50%)</strong></p><ul><li>Perform SQL Server database administration in a hybrid/cloud-based environment.</li><li>Monitor and optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and performance analysis.</li><li>Develop, maintain, and optimize stored procedures and database objects.</li><li>Troubleshoot database-related issues affecting reporting and downstream systems.</li><li>Ensure data integrity and system reliability during critical election preparation periods.</li></ul><p><strong>SQL Development & Reporting (50%)</strong></p><ul><li>Develop, enhance, and maintain SSRS reports.</li><li>Modify existing reports to support changing business and operational requirements.</li><li>Validate and reconcile data received from state-level voter registration databases.</li><li>Troubleshoot reporting failures, missing data, and data quality issues.</li><li>Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure reporting accuracy and timely delivery of election-related outputs.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Required Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Strong experience with <strong>SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)</strong>.</li><li>Hands-on SQL Server DBA experience, including:</li><li>Performance tuning</li><li>Indexing strategies</li><li>Stored procedure development and optimization</li><li>Advanced SQL query development and troubleshooting skills.</li><li>Experience identifying and resolving data integration and reporting issues.</li><li>Ability to quickly diagnose and remediate impacts from upstream database changes, including:</li><li>Table and column modifications</li><li>Data type changes</li><li>Schema updates</li><li>Data mapping discrepancies</li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly in time-sensitive production environments.</li></ul><p><br></p><p>P<strong>referred Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Experience supporting large-scale databases with high data integrity requirements.</li><li>Experience working within hybrid or cloud-based SQL environments.</li><li>Background supporting regulatory, government, election, or other mission-critical reporting systems is a plus.</li></ul>
