  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks (May 4, 2026 – August 3, 2026)

  • Position Type: Travel Speech-Language Pathologist / Hospital SLP – Long Term Care focus

  • Setting: Hospital – Speech Language Pathology Unit (LTC / Skilled Nursing support)

  • Shift: 8-hour day shifts, Monday–Friday (start time between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM; flexible with Director of Rehab)

  • Hours per Week: 35

  • On-Call: None

  • Weekend Requirement: No weekends unless a holiday falls within M–F (make-up hours allowed on weekends if needed)

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,920 – $2,060

  • Location: Buffalo, MO 65622 — Local travel SLP job in Missouri (near the Ozarks)

Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Active Missouri State License as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA — Required

  • Minimum 1 year of SLP clinical experience (new grads considered with Level II clinical experience; Level I observation alone is not sufficient)

  • Experience in Long Term Care (LTC), Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), or hospital-based dysphagia care — Required

  • Comfort evaluating and treating swallowing (dysphagia), speech, language, and cognitive-communication disorders

  • Ability to provide at least one professional reference at time of submission

  • 3 years of active CCC experience — Preferred

  • Experience supervising Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) clinicians or students — Preferred

Key Responsibilities

  • Screen, evaluate, and treat patients with communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders (dysphagia) in a hospital/LTC setting

  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care using standardized assessments and evidence-based speech therapy practices

  • Provide dysphagia management, recommendations for diet modifications, and safe swallowing strategies

  • Monitor and document patient progress in the electronic medical record (EMR); maintain accurate clinical records for quality and compliance

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including nursing, OT, PT, physicians, dietitians, and case management

  • Participate in patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, and required trainings or in-services

  • Supervise and mentor CFY clinicians and SLP students as needed

  • Ensure adherence to ASHA standards, Missouri state practice acts, and facility policies

  • Coordinate necessary DME, therapy supplies, and referrals per regulatory and clinical practice requirements
