Virtual High School Digital Design/Art Teacher - Indiana Statewide The ideal Virtual High School Digital Design/Art Teacher candidate has knowledge and training in teaching; can demonstrate strong instructional skills; is comfortable working in a technology rich environment; stays current on recent research and pedagogy in the field; exhibits superior organizational and communication skills; is well versed in data and reporting tools; is compassionate and student centered; and can participate effectively on a collaborative open-leadership team. As part of their regular teaching responsibilities, teachers are expected to fulfill duties in the following areas • Directing the academic opportunities of every student in your class • Managing and pacing multiple courses • Engaging students in online coursework • Traveling as needed to proctor testing and to attend professional development • Monitoring and analyzing students’ efforts • Responding to student emails and phone messages within 24 hours (1 school day) • Grading assignments, exams, and projects within 3 school days from the time that they are submitted • Preparing for and hosting weekly Blackboard Collaborate (web-conferencing) presentations for students in each class • Evaluating student performance on assignments and providing instructional feedback regarding student performance • Supplementing, enriching, and remediation where necessary • Participating in staff meetings, IEP/504 meetings, and parent-teacher conferences via conference call • Communicating clearly and frequently with students and parents (via email, phone, course announcements, and BbC sessions) • Working as a team with the rest of the HCCA staff Requirements • Bachelor’s degree • Digital Design/Art Endorsement • Valid Current Teaching Certification in IN • Meets state’s NCLB’s Highly Qualified Teacher requirements • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook • Experience in a customer service environment • Strong written/verbal communication skills • Flexible schedule The ideal teacher candidates will also have • Extensive knowledge in art history • Experience in making different kinds of art products • Excellent teaching skills • Good communication and interpersonal skills • Creativity and imagination • Patience and ability to work with students • Willing to assist and support students • Organizational skills and time management • Responsible and attentive Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
